Lobo Brasil interview:
Todd Nauck

Todd NauckInterview by: Lucio Luiz (November, 20th of 2002)

We have interviewed through Todd Nauck, Young Justice magazine designer and responsible for the Li’l Lobo e do Slobo look. He isn't a man of many words, but the few ones he used were in the interview below (as everybody will notice, he isn’t so prolix)

Who had the idea to put L’il Lobo in Young Justice?
Peter David [“Young Justice” comic’s writer] and the editor [Eddie Berganza] came up with the idea. I got to design him as a teen.

What do you think about the Lobo’s fans who didn’t like the personality of character during his time like a teenager?
That’s okay. You can’t please everybody!

Why did you “killed” L’il Lobo during the crossover “Our Worlds at War” and create Slobo?
DC wanted adult Lobo back. We did the “Our Worlds at War” story to give Lobo back to the DCU and create Slobo. The runt of the clone litter.

How did you create the design of L’il Lobo and Slobo?
I just made L’il Lobo a “little Lobo”. Since Slobo is a runt. I just made him a “skinny, little Lobo”.

What will happen to Slobo when Young Justice be changed by Teen Titans?
You'll have to read Young Justice #52-55 for that story!

What’s your opinion about the characters Lobo, L’il Lobo and Slobo?
Lobo is very popular. L’il Lobo and Slobo brought great tension to Young Justice. I like Slobo better than L’il Lobo because he's not Lobo. He’s a an offshoot of Lobo. Smaller, not as strong, his attitude is mostly a front to cover his insecurities. Li’l Lobo was just Lobo de-aged to a teen. A fun character for the time we had him, but the transition to Slobo refreshed the character for me.

What about to work with Peter David and Lary Stucker [“Young Justice” comic’s inker]?
They are great to work with!

Do you have any projects for Young Justice before the team is over?
Just some great stories in Young Justice #52-55.

Do you have any new projects for comic books?
I'm talking with Image about doing my creator owned comic book. My book will have adults in it from age 18-50. I do plan on doing more character driven stories with adventure and some humour.
